I sent two of these to my daughter who is in college. She keeps one in her car and one on her key ring. You just never know when something like this could come in handy, for yourself or another person.
Fortunately, I've never had to use one. It is supposed to be deterrent for anything with a nose and eyes, but I wouldn't use it for your first line of defense for say, a bear or mountain lion. Dogs would probably be pretty put out by this stuff though.

It would be a one use spray. The directions say to use spray in 4 short bursts. Since there is no way to know what is left after using it, I would not risk my safety on a spray that was not full.
