Canister is great, one of the smaller ones we could find and lightest. Using it when in the ADK's or on a longer trip than 1 night. Easy to open and close with a nickel. For our upcoming 3 night kayak trip we will be using this for 2 people and the dog. The first day and nights food doesn't go in but the rest should fit. Mostly freeze dried meals, some tuna, pita breads, condiments and snacks. If we end up planning anything longer than 3 nights or more intense shorter trips we may need more and are contemplating a second. For the price, you can get 2 of these to 1 of the big yellow ones and then we have the option to pack more food if we need.
The only gripe we have is that the first time using it, we took it on an overnight...strapped it to the bottom of my pack; the case is cheap and thin. One strap had already ripped off by mid-day and the case had a tear at a seam. Maybe from putting my pack down it stressed the material, but I didn't expect it. The case was a bonus anyway since the bigger, more expensive canisters had the option to purchase a case for $20 more. We will rig our own carrying system since the supplied one failed miserably. Not a deal breaker for the price tho IMO.
