Bought it for a trip to Aconcagua and just tested them out on Mt. Washington. It kept my feet toasty all the way even after several stream crossing. Worked very well with Crampons. I didn't even get blisters after 2-day 18-mile hike! Got plenty of compliments from fellow climers.

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
I bought these back in 1999 and used them as a tower technician in the midwest with no complaints. I used the warmer rated insoles and never have felt like I should have used the colder rated insoles. Since my time climbing towers I have also used them in extreme conditions hunting elk with no complaints. They are not pushing 10 years of service and still in no danger of being replaced!
