Vasque Mica Gore-Tex® Hiking Boots - Waterproof (For Women)

bought these for light trail hiking. wanted comfort and ankle support. haven't hiked yet, but so far are very comfortable for ordinary walking. seem to need little or no break-in. as other reviewers note, the size is small compared to other shoes and boots. had to get a half-size larger than I usually wear (5B).

I'm on my third pair of these. No break-in time and very comfortable. On my first pair the fabric tore within a few months, but I had it repaired and wore them for about 9 months. As they broke in the toe box became too short. WIth my second pair the toe box also became too short. Both were 9 wides, my size. I'm not sure if they become too broken in and then the toe box breaks down, but I decided to order a half size bigger in wide. The 9.5 fits very well and I don't think I'll have this problem, but now I don't need it in a WIDE. I'm going to order a half size bigger in regular (I am usually a regular width). I'll keep the 9.5 W and use it for double socks. Remember that a wide is wide all around so I don't feel the support I need, yet the longer length is good. Note that I never have taken a 9.5 so these do run a bit short. Otherwise, I really love this boot. Its light weight and not for heavy snow. I waterproof it and it stays drier than my -20 degrees Keen though.

I thought I was "settling" for a boot that I wouldn't be truly happy with but I could live with. I was wrong. I walk long distances to work in freezing weather, my trainers just weren't comfortable enough. These supply the traction and warmth I need and keep me dry even on the stormies night. I injured my right ankle long ago so the break-in period will be lenghthy. Very happy with this purchase

I have moderately wide feet so I was excited to see a hiking boot come in wide widths, since not many do. Disappointing that even the wide width version felt pretty narrow. I returned these and am still searching for a hiking boot that doesn't crush my forefoot and pinch my bunions.

These run narrow as other reviewers have noted - even the wide widths - but they work for me and I think they'll get better as time goes on. Plenty of room in the toe box, which I love. My big complaint is that there's not enough cushion at the heels and mine start to hurt after a while. I hope this is more due to my feet and the fact that I tend to walk heavily on my heels than it is to the boot. Will try some cushion insoles and see how it goes (and that's the only reason for 3 stars instead of 4). Otherwise, great boot. Rugged, easy to lace, great traction and warm.

Runs NARROW! Great boot - felt good right out of the box. I ordered the wide and it still felt narrow but ended up being fine. Wore for a 1 hour hike before tackling a 9 hour hike - great traction on granite, very sturdy.

I must order all good outdoor products online (not available in my state) to find what fits. For these boots, ankle and arch support was remarkably weak for a backpacker-toted boot - but perhaps that's why I prefer all-leather boots anyhow. Arch support was relatively weak as well and toe-box was shallow, so they fit surprisingly small, and I intentionally up-sized a half-size to account for extra socks for long hikes. Too bad...

The boot was too tight (with one size over) for comfortable walking. This was with a very thin sock.
