The best shoes I've ever bought

I bought these shoes after a winter day backpacking trip in Duluth in February. The pair of Keens I was wearing were almost 8 years old and they did not do very well on all the ice we encountered. I loved my Keens while I had them, but they were just getting too old and the bottom of them were slick and dangerous. After I got back from Duluth I did a lot of research on the best type of shoe to get for versatile backpacking, hiking and outdoor adventures. These Vasque shoes were at the top of my list and they have proved to be the best purchase I have made in years. I have a serious injury to my right foot which has made finding comfortable and durable shoes extremely hard to find. These shoes are roomy, comfortable and durable. Many hiking/trail running shoes I have used are made out of hard and nonflexible material and therefore they take a long time to get used to. With these shoes the material is durable but not uncomfortable to get used to. The only drawback I have found with these shoes is that they do occasionally get sweaty inside because of the waterproof feature, which honestly is just a part of getting waterproof shoes. I do not believe that this takes away from the durability, flexibility and comfort of these shoes. Also, I do put orthotics in my shoes and many times this makes the shoes significantly smaller and it crunches up the toes and foot. These shoes are taller than most shoes and can easily fit orthotics inside them and retain their fit. From a young person with a lifetime injury that takes care with shoes she purchases these are the best shoes I have ever bought.
