Nice boot very comfortable but too short. I wear a 6 in other styles of Vasque boot but this one was too small. Sorry to have to return it! I would have given it more stars but I hate wasting money on shipping an item when the sizing is not consistant.

In the end I love them. I waver between 8 and 8 1/2. I first order the larger and they were two big. When I first tried on the 8's they were quite tight and thought of returning them. I tried again a few days later and they were fine. My feet had been swollen from a cross continental flight the first time. I wore them on the return journey (20 hrs) to see what would happen and it was the same result. I could see this having the same sort of problem if I were walking for several days for long period where my feet would have a tendency to swell. Something to keep in mind if your shoe size wavers like mine. That said. They have been really comfortable and attractive for tromping around in for all my other needs.

I liked these boots but bought them a size too large after seeing the recommendations to buy them larger. I had to return them and was unable to get my true size but would try again if my size came in. My recommendations above are based on trying them on inside and what I think they would have been good for.
Question
“I am looking for a boot that can used for day hikes, as well as an overnight trip. Is this going to be stiff enough to support weight, or is this more of a light day hike trail type boot? thanks. *i don't hike very often, but will go a few times in the rockies and ozarks”

Answer
I would say the boot would give you the support for someone carrying a pack for an overnight hike or weekend trip. However, if I were going on regular long back-country trips with a loaded pack, I would choose a stiffer, sturdier boot. That type of boot will take time to break-in.

Question
“I have the Opportunist trail shoe in a size 8 and would like to order the Opportunist mid hiking boot. Many of the reviews say that the mid hiking runs smaller than normal. Is there enough of a difference in sizes in the two shoes that I should order a 8.5 in the mid hiking? Thanks”

Answer
According to our fit models the Mid Hiking Boot runs true to size. I would recommend ordering the size you normally would.

Answer
My opinion would be to go with the larger size simply due to the long tongue laces. It is very difficult to get this boot on your foot - but I have no experience with the trail shoes.
