Vasque Quantum Gore-Tex® XCR® Multi-Sport Shoes - Waterproof (For Women)

These boots are reasonably lightweight, have decent ankle support (I have unstable ankles from running injuries when I was a teen), and are water-proof. They kept my feet dry during several hours of fishing in Alaska in the rain. The main disappointment is that the toe bumper became scraped and started to peel off after I only wore the boot a few times. I also find that between the Gore-tex and the lining material, my feet tend to get sweaty when it's hot and clammy when its cool, despite wearing good wool hiking socks with them.

I expected these to be more like ultra light hiking boots.

I have been wearing the same pair of Vasque hiking boots for the past 5 years. They finally started to crack along the sole, so I thought that it was time to get a new pair. Unfortunately, it seems that Vasque's just aren't made as well as they use to be. I ordered one pair that started to fall apart after 2 weeks, and the second pair that I ordered only took 2 days. Very disappointing.

I have purchased Vasque shoes and boots for years for mountain hiking and running. I have enjoyed their exceptional comfort for a narrow heal, wide forefoot fit, excellent Goretex liners, comfort, and durabilty. These boots were the exception. They started to degrade at the toe bumper and forefoot material within 2 months of what I consider normal wear of comparable Vasque boots. The footbox was also narrow compared to similar boots. Unfortunately, I bought a pair of this style for a friend, only to be embarrased by the poor quality and durability. This experience has left me reluctant to purchase Vasque products in the future.
