These are the perfect boots for trudging through snowy Maine Winters. Great for outdoor chores such as shoveling the driveway after snowstorm after snowstorm that we receive here in Portland.
Well insulated, waterproof and very comfortable when out and about cleaning up after a winter storm. The best pair of boots I have ever owned.

  • 5.0 out of 5 stars. Great for snowshoeing
Reviewed by jbrett14 from MI on Sunday, December 2, 2018
I have had these for a couple years now. I use them primarily for snowshoeing.

Fit: I normally wear a 10.5 and have an average width foot, and these fit perfectly in that size.

Warmth: Our last excursion was a 2-day 15 mile snowshoe hike\camp at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in the U.P. of Michigan. Temps started off at 21 BELOW zero F (not C) in the morning, with highs around 5, and my feet never got cold with just one pair of socks. This surprised me as I would have thought 400 g of insulation was not going to be enough.

Waterproof: I had the misfortune of stepping through some shoreline ice on Lake Superior, up to my knee. The top of my boots were covered by my waterproof pants and my feet remained dry except for where some water trickled through the top. Also stepped in some running creeks to test for waterproof ability. Water never entered the boots.

Wear: I have hiked approximately 50 miles in them so far with zero signs of wear. This includes approx. 10 miles of hiking without snowshoes, using ice cleats.

Lacing: Very solid but the upper lacing can be a bit difficult in extreme cold temps. Especially after water has frozen onto the laces.

Worn them several times. Comfortable right out of the box, size is right on and plenty warm.
  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. Comfortable, dry, lightweight.

I bought these boots for a friend's grandson, but have also owned a pair myself. They just weren't wide enough for my feet, otherwise I would have kept them longer than a month. I found them to be very comfortable except across my wide toes, so light I hardly knew I was wearing them, and very breathable. My friend's grandson hasn't worn them more than a few times yet but he can't wait to have warm feet snowshoeing in the dead of winter.

The only con I had with the boots themselves is the lacing system. As someone who's always had boots with metal eyelets & D-Rings, I'm just not sure how much I trusted the nylon loops and leather tubes. These can't be repaired if/when they tear, either. Still, the boots were very highly rated everywhere I looked, and nobody mentioned torn lace loops, so I bought them.

The lack of wide sizing is a manufacturer problem, not a boot problem. If Vasque - and most other manufacturers! - ever get their heads out of their 4th point of contact they'll start offering everything in at least E and EE widths.

Comfortable and lighter weight than expected. My feet stay warm and dry without feeling weighted down. This is my second pair of Vasque boots. The first pair were hiking boots for summer and now I am set for winter.
