These have been successfully weather-tested in nasty, slushy snow. Definitely waterproof and super comfortable. Bought these to use for the occasional hike and as boots during bad weather, but I like them so much that I'm using them as my normal walking shoes. When worn out in the cold, they keep my feet warm, but in warmer conditions, such as indoors, my feet don't get hot. As far as sizing, in regular shoes (flats, heels, sandals, etc.) I am a size 6, but with sneakers I am usually a size 7. So I ordered the 7, and it feels ever so slightly loose (I don't wear thick socks). But it's actually very comfortable that way, since hiking shoes have the extra support inside, so my feet doesn't feel cramped. Can't wait to try hiking with them.
