I was looking for a pack that I could use as a commuter, but that would also work for day hikes and as a carryon, and the Jura 24 is the perfect size. There are expandable pockets on the sides, which make it easy to slide off of one shoulder for easy access to my wallet, badge and transit card. There is a curved frame inside that is meant to keep the pack off your back when it's hot, and this frame means that a laptop won't lay flat, but I haven't found that to be a problem. As far as other uses, it's lightweight for hiking, with a lot of extra straps and lanyards for gear, and even though it comes with a waterproof cover, the pack itself is pretty resistant to water. I live in Seattle, so it's definitely been put to the test.

Use it as a crag pack for climbing, is a fraction to small for rope and all my kit, but has sweet external attachments on outside so can still take all my stuff.

I needed a second day pack that was more than my small Mobex [960 cu. in.]. I use the Mobex for short hikes- 5 mi. and under. The Jura 24 is listed at 1100+ cu. in., but really seems to hold more. I can easily fit my 2 liter water bottle inside, plus an extra pair of socks, my lunch and snacks and still have room for the sweater or jacket I shed later on in the hike. There are 3 pockets: one one top and two side ones, which can be enlarged. The newest feature for me is the fact that the pack is positioned away from my back. I look forward to using this for long, all day hikes.
    • Atmosphere: Practical
    • Best Uses: Longer all day hikes
    • Cons: Opens at the top
    • Pros: Away from your back, Sits well on hips

    • Answer The Vaude Jura 24 Backpack does not have a laptop sleeve. Sorry for the inconvenience.

    • Answer It will comfortably fit a 15" laptop in the main compartment, and has a elastic pocket inside you may be able to fit a smaller laptop in. but he hard frame that it has through the back of it means the laptop doesn't really sit flat inside bag.||so um the short answer really is, laptop will fit, but not ideal for carrying it around heaps.
