Due to only having a single compartment this pack holds much more than I thought it would. Perfect for day trips, or ultralight overnights. Hold a heavy jacket, hat, gloves water bottle and first aid kit with ease. The straps are comfortable and adequate with light loads. Overall it is a great buy for anyone looking for a simple pack with a fair amount of room.

This is a great pack for either day hiking, peak bagging or rock climbing. The internal anatomically shaped frame sheet makes it very comfortable and stable. This can be removed to reduce weight by 5oz, still leaving ample foam padding to still make it comfortable. At 25L it is relatively large for a day pack, but the compression chords work very well to cinch everything in tight and stable. This amount of room makes it perfect for rock climbing where you can stuff two peoples gear in it and have the seconder carry it. It's also big enough to carry a second (rap) rope, plus clothing, if needed. The lid has an inner and outer pocket which both work great. There is a clip inside to hang a bladder and a port to bring the tube out to the right shoulder strap. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because this port isn't positioned quite right. It still works, but it's really a bit low and makes the tube stick out from the side slightly. However it is also possible to bring the tube out the top of the main pack and through a cutout in the center and rear of the lid where the lid attaches to the back of the pack. This is a minor design flaw. As an aside, this pack doesn't have external water bottle pockets, but I consider the days of (external) water bottles long gone, bladders work so much better.I want to comment on the two earlier posts:1) The waist strap is not designed to bear weight, it is just there to keep the pack stable when moving around. This is primarily a climbing pack so I consider it good to have the waist strap a little high on the waist so that it doesn't interfer with a climbing harness, which it doesn't. There are also two very small loops on the front to run the waist straps through if you don't want to use them.2) This pack doesn't have ice axe loops, and I wouldn't want an ice axe anywhere near it. This pack is made of ultralight material and would be torn to shreds if caught by teeth of an ice axe. For alpine (ice axe and crampons) ascents I would definitely use a beefier pack. However, I will say that this pack is big enough to carry crampons inside a crampon bag, inside the pack.I also looked at [@] Flash 18. That's a nice pack, but I like the extra volume, the lid, and the internal frame sheet of this pack.Lastly, this Vaude pack seems to be very well made.

This is a really well-made ultralight day pack, but I had to return it becasue it did not fit by torso. The description says it fits up to 22" torso, but not really. The waist belt falls too high for me (6'2"), even when I let the should straps out almost too far. Should be fine for everyone else. Compression chords work well. Suprisingly large capacity for a day pack; it can hold a lot. Unfortuinately, no exterior side pocket for water bottle.
    • Best Uses: Short or long day hikes
    • Cons: No exterior pockets, Not for tall people
    • Pros: Clever design, Ultralight materials, Well Made

Bought this as a gift for my wife. She said it did not have Ice Ax loops! So I sent it back. It looks beautiful red, well made, good design, thin material. Never used. Looks big enough for a jacket, lunch, bottle of water and other gear.
