I have a lumbar pack I use for day hikes and warm weather overnights. I wanted a small backpack that would fit on my upper back above the lumbar pack for times when I needed to carry a bit more. This pack fills the bill.

Perfect day hike or biking backpack with some structure to it that allows you to carry heavier stuff with you. One of the only small backpacks with a space for airflow behind your back, a good number of small pockets, a bladder pocket and two water bottle holders on the sides. The one thing I would change is to make the water bottle pockets more sturdy.

I wanted a small backpack to just hold a water bladder, lunch, rain pants and jacket, space blanket, tiny flashlight and lighter for a dayhike. The suspended back keeps the pack away from your sweaty back. Well made. It could be used for travel as a sort of tote to walk around town with. Perfect size for day hikes and walking around as a tourist.

Keithhiker points out in his review that the wire frame that holds the pack away from your back for venting limits the volume of the pack. If you need that volume, you can remove the center crossbar of the frame. It comes out quite easily without tools. Removing the crossbar allows the frame to fit closer to your back. You regain the volume but lose most of the venting.
    • Best Uses: Day hike
    • Cons: Frame heavier than needed
    • Pros: Good venting, Light

I'm female and 5' 5". This pack fits perfect for my size and activity. I day hike and snowshoe and I'm able to carry everything I need.

Metal bows arch the bag away from your back for ventilation, but this greatly reduces the interior capacity. Capacity is much less than average for the apparant size of the bag. Frame is small. Good for a youth, small framed woman, or large child who wants a nicely made, low capacity, and very light day pack.
    • Cons: Limited Capacity, small, Small frame
    • Pros: Light, Nice materials
