5.0 out of 5 stars. The warmest underwear you'll ever find
Reviewed by M. C. from Missouri on Wednesday, December 30, 2009
I have been wearing Medima wool/angora underwear since I first discovered them at Sierra Trading Post in the late 1990s. I still have all the Medima underwear I bought over the years and I still wear them every winter. I practically live in them at home when the weather gets cold.

Be sure to wash them frequently to keep the moths from being attracted (I got a few tiny holes in mine.) I wash mine in cold water in the gentle cycle and hang to dry. Do Never put them in the dryer - even on low heat. I think I made some of the pants smaller that way.

Regarding the new tops I just bought, they are definitely a finer and tighter guage knit than the ones I've gotten in the past. The lace at the neckline appears to be very sturdy and should withstand many washings with no problem, I believe.

Unlike the Medima garments I've gotten in the past, this new one is VERY FORM FITTING. The only place where it does not cling tightly to my body is the very end of the sleeves. I wear a size 6 or 8 top in Coldwater Creek and just a B cup bra, but I got a size "Large" in this Medima underwear and it still fits this snugly! I guess it's designed to stretch.

There appears to be disagreement about whether the fabric is itchy. Apparently this will depend on the individual. As for me, I always wear silk long underwear as a base layer for the Medima top. Silk is so thin it fits underneath the Medima garment just fine. Try the Sports Silks top which is also available on this website; it's less expensive than some other options.

Finally, I should mention that I always wear Medima garments to bed on cold nights. I would definitely consider this underwear too hot for the office. Only when the temperature is less than 5 degrees and I know I will have to be outside for a while will I wear the Medima things. And boy, on those times am I grateful for them!

  • 1.0 out of 5 stars. Merino Wool Angora

    Runs small, fabric itches.
  • 3.0 out of 5 stars. Runs SMALL

I had to return this shirt for the next size up, which is unusual. So it runs small. It's also scratchier than your typical Smartwool type product, and the white is fairly sheer. That said, it's a gorgeous shirt and it'll work nicely as a winter undershirt for cold office days.

Medima products have always proved to be top quality with material and construction. I also love the sleeveless style.

Truly lovely lace neckline, but snug fit in arms, and could not ignore the itching. Sent it back, alas.
  • 2.0 out of 5 stars. Would not buy again

Bought for 5'6, 115lbs. Fits a shorter person -- arms way to short (2 inches before wrist) and fabric quite thin. Nice collar V but does not compete with competition like Smartwool. Very unpleasant leave going up the arm … Would recommend for a short armed person and for not too cold weather.

About Medima

It is no secret that the world's softest apparel fiber comes from the docile and adorable angora rabbit. Quiet and serene by nature, these animals have been harvested for fiber production for hundreds of years, and their fur is regarded by the wool industry as "crème de la crème" for its soft silky texture and fine insulating properties. Medima has long understood the appeal of angora in the production of thermal underwear. Not only does Medima underwear bear the same celestial softness as the rabbit from whence it came, but hollow angora fibers gently trap the body's natural heat. Medima uses no harsh chemicals in its process, blending angora with wool, silk, cotton and synthetics to create the most luxurious, climate-controlled underwear you’ll ever have the pleasure of soothing over your skin.
