I am a backpacker who is still getting a good level of gear together for different circumstances, previously only being outfitted for summer camping. I did not really want to pay retail on an 800 fill down bag, and I needed a long as I am 6'3". I found this one on Sierra and ordered it. I used it on a Big Agnes Q-core pad (R value=5) on a night that it got below 30 degrees and was extremely warm. I would take it all of the way down to 10 or 15 degrees, as the bag does not seem to be lacking in warmth at all. For winter camping this winter, I will put my Q-core pad on a closed-cell foam pad to keep the cold from coming up underneath and use a +25 degree Thermolite liner. I am confident that this arrangement will keep me warm down to zero degrees Fahrenheit easily (or below), and I am a cold sleeper. The trapezoidal foot box gives you a surprising amount of room to move around in the bag, and the bag holds loft better than any down bag I have seen in the past. It comes with both a mesh storage sack and a compression sack which packs up very small (10"X10"?). At 2 lbs 9oz, it is amazing how warm it is. My only complaint is the zipper. It is not locking. this means that if you toss and turn a lot during the night, you risk unzipping the thing. If it is zipped all of the way up, the velcro zipper lock flap at the top should keep it from unzipping, but it is still annoying. That's why I gave it 4/5 stars. I am still trying to figure out a way to lock the zipper, and am considering replacing it, as my girlfriend is handy with a sewing machine.
