Shoe could have a fully sewn tongue up the entire front of boot. This would keep water from entering if one should step in high water. Other than that the boot is solid and a good valve.

Good comfortable sturdy waterproof hiking boot. Unfortunately, since it is not breathable it is poorly suited for warm/hot weather .. moisture builds up inside the boot. The tongue could have been a bit more generous. Also, the shoe laces are a bit short and it is difficult to make the knot.

You get what you pay for with these boots; compared to, say, a full-grain leather Scarpa boot, its like chalk & cheese. The lacing is very robust but difficult to maintain tension on the lower lacing; the closure is too wide & the tongue too narrow which results in an uncomfortable "bunching" of the gusseted tongue rather than being able to close the gap over the tongue. I haven't worn these over rocky terrain but I'm guessing the supposed "full-grain leather" (squirrel leather perhaps?) wouldn't stop many sharp stones. But you can't complain about the price eh?

Toe box too low--jams toes down, no wiggle room. Tongue too narrow--difficult to center when lacing.

The product ends up looking pretty cheap for
leather. I was tempted to send the shoes back.
I wore them hiking locally to beat them up a bit
and give them a better look. I will wear them
with a sport coat and tie and dungarees on the
    plane to Beijing next month.
