They're comfortable, cute and have a good tread. I'd buy them again, especially in view of the great price, but the fit was a bit loose.

If you could overlook the defect (not crucial to performance), it's a good shoe for the price. I wore it on a 5 mile walk in Marin with happy feet after. I thought it rather fashionable for the girly hiker that I am.

Answer You can wear these either way. They are comfortable without socks for most people but shoes wear differently on every individual.

Answer Hi there, I wear mine with socks. But, you can wear them without. I can't see any obvious place where chafing would take place but that depends on each person's foot. Either way would work.
