Wenger Rothorn 3 Tent - 3-Person, 4-Season

This is not a terrible tent; with some design tweaks it could be very good. But you can buy similar tents that don't need refining. 1: The instructions show a picture of the poles for the two person tent, which are different. That was odd. 2: Where the poles cross, you join them with a "C" hook and then tie them together with a thin, attached piece of elastic. The C hooks are a little small and make joining the poles unnecessarily difficult. I liked the elastic, but when putting this up in 20 degree weather, ouch! The elastic is thin and you have to take off your gloves to cinch it around the poles and hook. 3:The fly has buckles to attach at various points to the tent's body. This was cool. It made it very sturdy in the wind. However, the fit was so tight, I couldn't get all the buckles attached. 4: The vestibule is a bit small and the sides didn't extend all the way to the ground so snow/rain came in underneath. 5: The doors open in halves. I've never seen this before and at first I didn't like it. But then I did. I could open my half and keep the wind/snow from blowing on to my tent mate. I have an REI mountaineering tent very similar to this and the biggest difference (which is a deal breaker for my challenged hands) is the "C" hooks which are bigger and therefore easier to attach the crossing poles. I'm returning the tent.

This 4 season tent is great. I do year around camping with Boyscouts in the midwest. HOT in summer & COLD in winter.
