Pros: The shorts kept me cool and dry on a six mile hike in 100+ degree weather. When I went to dinner afterwards in an air conditioned restaurant, the addition of the pant legs kept me warm enough. The material is very lightweight and breathes well. I was worried that the leg zippers would both... Read More

I usually wear a size 6 and wanted a roomier pair for hiking. The Medium (size 8-10) is a good fit for me so it's probably a bit small for those who typically wear size 8-10. I really like the very light nylon fabric. It will be cooler in the hot weather and it appears to be quick-drying as well. The unzipped shorts have a nice length just above the knee. I also like that each zipper pull has a letter "R" or "L" to indicate which pant leg to zipper onto. Very clear. I usually wear an inseam of 27.5 - 28" so these pants are long for me. I will probably hem it to the right inseam. Overall, it's a good pair of pants for a reasonable price.

In trying to replace my only other pair of convertible pants I did lots of research and decided on these because they had good reviews and are affordable on my budget.

I am 5'9" ~170lbs and initially ordered a Large (12-14). They were cut too narrow in the hips even though my measurements matched exactly with their size large measurement description. Exchanged for XL (16). Same issue. Tried to take a step up (emulating hiking action) and the upper thigh pulled so tight it restricted my range of movement.

I think the problem is that there isn't any stretch at all in these pants so they don't move with you. For pants I expect to wear for hiking and backpacking, that doesn't work. Will return these too.

Some good features in these pants, but they are not really comfortable -- and without a bit of elastine or spandex, they don't move easily with me when I need them to.

I can't really review the quality or comfort of these pants yet, as I ordered based on the size charts, and they're a bit too small. I held onto them, as I work outdoors in an active job and they'll probably fit me eventually, but it was disappointing to follow the size charts and end up with pants that don't fit. Definitely order a size up from what the size chart indicates for you.

I got these pants for my wife for our backpacking trips. The material is lightweight for the hot days yet durable for around camp. Can't beat the price compared to similar pants that, ultimately, most people will use only a few times a year.

    • Answer I did end up returning them and had to get something else since they did not have another size. So from what I remember of the pants, you could probably slide the bottoms off with boots, unless they are bulky with large soles. The zippers are hidden when you wear them as shorts and were easy to take on and off.

    • Answer These do not have zippers in the leg openings.

    • Answer I have not tried to take the bottoms off over boots yet, but they are nice and wide. I don't think it will be difficult. There are not zippers at the leg openings, though.
Answered on 5/26/2015 10:43:19 AM by Emily from Indiana
    • Answer Maybe - It depends on how bulky your boots are. There are no hidden zippers in the leg openings - unless they are hidden really, really well and I have not found them yet.
