Pros: The shorts kept me cool and dry on a six mile hike in 100+ degree weather. When I went to dinner afterwards in an air conditioned restaurant, the addition of the pant legs kept me warm enough. The material is very lightweight and breathes well. I was worried that the leg zippers would both... Read More

I got the impression from a previous review that these pants had zippers at the ankles to allow them to be pulled off easily over hiking shoes. They don't. What's the point of having zip off legs if you can't pull them off without removing your shoes? Still for the price I might have kept them for cool weather hiking, but I found they have no stretch and tended to bind above my knees, restricting movement for climbing. Might be ok for casual hiking, but not the stuff I do. Sent them back.

This is my second pair of these pants. They are great on long walks as there is no binding anywhere.

I wore these pants every day for a week in the Boundary Waters and they held up super well. They kept me dry in light rain, protected my legs from scrapes during portages and zipped off nicely for the warm days. You do have to take off your shoes to remove the legs after you zip them off - the only down side. I am 5'8, 120 - I ordered a size small and they were just long enough so that I didn't step on them while walking. :) Fit pretty true to size. I appreciate the rugged quality and I was happy to have them on my trip!
