Pros: The shorts kept me cool and dry on a six mile hike in 100+ degree weather. When I went to dinner afterwards in an air conditioned restaurant, the addition of the pant legs kept me warm enough. The material is very lightweight and breathes well. I was worried that the leg zippers would both... Read More

I can't really review the quality or comfort of these pants yet, as I ordered based on the size charts, and they're a bit too small. I held onto them, as I work outdoors in an active job and they'll probably fit me eventually, but it was disappointing to follow the size charts and end up with pants that don't fit. Definitely order a size up from what the size chart indicates for you.

I got these pants for my wife for our backpacking trips. The material is lightweight for the hot days yet durable for around camp. Can't beat the price compared to similar pants that, ultimately, most people will use only a few times a year.

These have a slightly longer shorts length than others do, which I like. I use these for backpacking, but have worn them around town too. I like the partial elastic waist, but you can wear a belt too. Nice weight fabric; sturdy, but not rough.

Bought these to replace another pair of White Sierra convertibles that I outgrew: 5'9", 153 lbs. now. Length and fit are as expected for Large. These pants have a "cleaner" look to them than my previous pair - replacing the two flapped, pouch pockets with one zippered pocket on the right thigh. I miss the fourth pocket. I like it that the two hand pockets on the front now have a solid lining instead of mesh. (My keys and other items tended to get stuck in the mesh.)

Good material, dries quickly. The shorts, if unzipped, have a better fit than when the pants are zipped on. They get baggy at knee area. But overall good quality pants for non-sweaty walk/hike. I did change to a pair of stretchy pants after I got sweaty so it wouldn't constrain my movement.

    • Answer No hidden zippers in the leg openings. Would have to remove boots first.

    • Answer I did end up returning them and had to get something else since they did not have another size. So from what I remember of the pants, you could probably slide the bottoms off with boots, unless they are bulky with large soles. The zippers are hidden when you wear them as shorts and were easy to take on and off.

    • Answer I have not tried to take the bottoms off over boots yet, but they are nice and wide. I don't think it will be difficult. There are not zippers at the leg openings, though.

    • Answer Maybe - It depends on how bulky your boots are. There are no hidden zippers in the leg openings - unless they are hidden really, really well and I have not found them yet.
