The waistband has a bit of stretch built in along the rear side quarters. Unlike most this does not make the shorts hang funny but does make them move nicely with you when transitioning from hunching crouch to full extension. Lots of pockets and very secure snap st the top of the fly. Perfect.

I normally wear a size 8 and expected with the elastic waistband that there'd be no problem. I exchanged these shorts for size large but they are a bit baggy and too loose in the waist. I won't bother to return them because of the cost involved. I will take the waist in on both sides and hope I can wear the shorts when outdoors gardening. They seem well made, have pockets to hold small items and are lightweight which is perfect for summer but I won't be purchasing this brand again because their sizing is off (for my body anyway).
