I will be going out of the country during a monsoon season so I needed a light rain jacket that would for air flow in humid rainy weather. I love this jacket and it has so many adjustable parts to it: the hood, sleeves etc. I have yet to figure out how it folds into itself or whether it was supposed... Read More

This lightweight jacket is perfect so says my daughter who I ordered it for. She goes to school in Hawaii where it rains nearly every day- she loves how it packs in her backpack and now carries it WHEREEVER she goes

The rain jacket fits well, works well in the wind and rain. It also works well as a light jacket in cool weather. Also like that it packs so easily. It will definitely be a great travel jacket.

It's a nice color of plum. When it said "heavyweight protection" I thought it meant heavyweight as in warmth. I guess it was referring to the density of the weave. I bought this for my daughter to go on a camping trip but it did not rain. Still she liked it. I tell you though, it is paper thin material which will bring you no warmth. It appears to be quality construction. Just as long as you know what you are getting, strictly a waterproof jacket with no warmth factor.

Just what I wanted. My 10 year old rain jacket is loose and baggy, I needed to update it. I'm 5' and the sleeves are usually way too long. The White Sierry has good length and sleeve length (beware tall folk) and the fit is comfortably snug.

  • Question “The 'silver grey' color looks tan on the website - what color is it really???”

Asked on 6/7/2016 7:32:24 PM by Patty Gatta from New York
    • Answer Well, it isn't silver for sure. It is hard to describe, very light, neutral oatmeal with a bit of pearl. Not beige nor gray.

    • Answer I ordered the jacket in purple rain and it looks like the color on the website. I looked at the silver grey and it does look tan. I think it would be the same when you go it in.

    • Answer I am sorry I did not get the silver grey. I chose the vivid green which is quite nice.

  • Question “Is it breathable do I don't sweat when it's on?

Asked on 5/1/2016 9:06:01 AM by Peg from Ohio
    • Answer No, unfortunately it's not breathable. But at this price point, you can't expect more than rain and wind protection.

    • Answer I am very comfortable in it. I have used to a s a jacket when I get cold in restaurants. It has a open panel in he back that allows air to flow through it. If you wore it in the rain when it was warm you probably would not sweat. It is not extremely breathable, but it does keep you dry and is very lightweight. If I wore it in full sun on a hot day I would sweat.

    • Answer Hi, it's somewhat breathable, but I used it for warmth over layers so it's hard for me to remember. The fabric on the arm tore on something sharp in the woods, so I would say it's fairly breathable but not that durable in the woods. Overall not a bad jacket for the price I'd say: extremely light and roomy though the hood is a little short on top.

    • Answer This seems to have some breathability.

    • Answer It's really muggy here, now and I've worn it a few times. I haven't had any trouble with sweating, but I'm not running, hiking or exerting much energy. It has a Teflon water repellent and back vents, so it may be just right for high energy rain activities.

    • Answer Hi Peg. Sorry it has taken me so long to answer. The jacket is not perfectly breathable. It is coated on the inside. I don't sweat a lot, so it is perfect for me. I actually own 4 of them in different colors. My draw to this jacket was that it was packable. I ordered a size larger than I wear so I could put a lightweight fleece jacket underneath for cooler weather. This worked perfectly for me on Cadillac Mountain in Maine last fall.

Have you tried calling The North Face company? I am sure that The North Face company will either have the replacement piece or can at least lead you to where the replacement pieces can be purchased. If not, maybe the jacket piece was defective and The North Face company might be willing to compensate you with a new jacket. That's about the only thing that I feel might be worth trying.
      Hope I was helpful.
      Thank you.

      Hi there,
When I clicked on the image to see if my size was available it showed the exact jacket image that I received in my order. I was really happy with it in fact it had more things on it that I did not expect such as really deep pockets as well as nice deep inside pockets. The jacket looks awesome on me and I have received many compliments. It is so comfortable to use for layering with other garments and great for windy and rainy days. To me, the jacket looks on me exactly the way it looks on the model. Thank you. Hope this helps.
      Sincerely,
      A Satisfied Customer

    • Answer Real jacket has a seam , enclosing a small drawstring. Lays flat below the waist. I have't worn mine yet but I like the looks and feel of the fabric.

    • Answer The jacket design that you would be getting is the one that is on the model rather than the stand alone design. This is a very nice design and a wonderfully light and easy to pack rain jacket not to mention it's excellent rain protection. I would highly recommend this rain jacket.
Answered on 4/6/2015 6:56:57 AM by Buddy1 from Idaho
    • Answer It's smooth all the way down the front with a drawstring casement at the bottom. If you're looking at the catalog, the blue display is accurate, as is the red one on the model. I think the green jack must have a "wrinkle" that makes it look like a seam about 2 inches from the bottom of the jacket, which it does not have. Hope this is helpful! Ps. I love this jacket, but it doesn't 'breath' in the arm area. If you're cycling, you'll need to wear something that wicks underneath or you'll have very moist arms when you stop.

    • Answer I have this jacket in blue, and there is no seam across the lower part, no drawstring either. The inside seams are all taped and it is waterproof, very light (packs in its own pocket), and vented. I really like it. Hope this helps.

    • Answer My mistake! There is a drawstring in the very bottom hem around the hips! Sorry about that.
Answered on 4/6/2015 10:24:46 AM by Frenzy from Michigan
    • Answer My jacket is straight all the way down with a drawstring at the very bottom. It does not have a seam for the drawstring about 2 inches before the bottom as this picture of the gray jacket shows.

    • Answer The jacket that I purchased there is a draw sting on the bottom of it. I have not used it. This jacket is very thin and extremely waterproof. It has two inside pockets that are a good size and two hand pockets with zippers.
