I am very satisfied with these pants. They are true to size. Extremely comfortable, fast drying and handle nmachine washing and drying (cold water, delicate cycle) well.
I use them for the hiking, they hold up well on the trail and still look good afterwards.
I recommend this item

I ordered the convertible trail pants, waist size 33-35, since I normally wear 33. I tried them on when they arrived. I was quick to notice the waist size was way too small. I could possibly squeeze into a 32 on some pants, depending on the brand, but these were ridiculously small. Maybe size 28-30. I was really disappointed to say the least. But what really upset me was the fact I had to pay for shipping, returning shipping, and a return item fee. I was out over $10 on something that did not fit. Needless to say, I will never order from Sierra Trading Post again. Not a good way to do business.

These pants feel and look good on me.

It has the key features and the price is right.

It has zippers at the bottom of the legs near the boot for easy-on/easy-off. The legs zip off. The pockets work--no especially goofy pockets that spill contents upon sitting like some other brands. It has an included nylon belt (which is removable if a different belt is wanted). Those features along with the price are hard to pass by. Glad I bought a few. They worked camping and I'll likely wear them to work.

Bonus: the legs unzip behind the knee first, then in front of the knee. This directional means you can unzip them half way while hiking to get some ventilation without stopping to fully convert into shorts. The zippers have explicit R and L on them for ease of reattaching

    It has a phone pocket.

It's a great pant. Bang for the buck is completely there. If I don't give it all 5 stars, its only because I found a pair in another brand that I've become accustomed to with minor differences in features (eg thickness, phone pocket higher on hip, some pockets accessible without velcroing).

I haven't owned these long enough to tell if the stitching stands up.

    I wear a 32(inseam) 36 (waist) and the 32 Large fit

  • “do these pants look wrinkled?”
Asked by John from Louisiana on 5/2/2017 2:36:32 PM
    • i dont believe it's water repellant, but it is fast drying. normal soap with no bleach component should be fine. good luck.

    • There is nothing on the attached washing instructions label about that. Just "Machine wash cold with like colors." I don't find anything in the written tags and such that came with it either.
Answered on 6/11/2016 1:19:22 AM by Bart from Honolulu
    • I never thought about that. I just looked at the cleaning directions on the label and it said, no bleach, machine wash cold.

    • The short answer is that I do not know for sure. The label says cold water with like colored clothing. There is no specific detergent recommendation. That said, I clean all my nylon clothing in cold water in "Woolite" with the machine set on gentle cycle and then air dry (no dryer). If the water repellency fails there is a product called "Revivex" which will restore water repellency. I've used this process on water repellant nylon fishing hats with success. Otherwise I have not been too concerned with water repellency with shirts or pants because the material dries so quickly. For me, moisture wicking is the most important factor. Good luck.

    • Hi...Yes the lower section is removable and able to be taken over your boots.
This is because the bottom section has a zip that opens wide allowing easy removal.

    • I wasn't sure what you were asking about and since I haven't worn them yet I went and checked and the answer is yes there is a zipper on the side so you can remove that section without taking your boots off. Bought this for an African safari that we are taking in October. Glad I looked and glad that I could give you a thumbs up response.

    • At the bottom of the cuff they have a velcro tab that tightens around your ankle. There is also an approximately 6 to 8 inch zipper that zips up the leg to allow more room.

    • There are partial ~ 8" zips on the outside seam. Sufficient for removing boots or a bit of ventilation. Secured at the bottom with a velcro tab.

  • “are these slim fit or looser fit”
Asked by carson from Oklahoma on 4/16/2014 4:09:00 PM
    • More towards the slim side. I actually have them on right now and I can pull the material maybe an inch away from my thighs. I'm a 31.5" waist and the medium fit me perfectly. The material is lightweight, so they don't bind at all.
