I bought this version in the capris last year, and the shorts have the same advantages, being very lightweight and comfortable. The only disadvantage I've noticed is that the leg openings could be a bit larger for greater freedom of movement. For walking they are wonderful (in our current 95 degree, 90% humidity weather). They also seem to run true to size.

In trying to replace my only other pair of convertible pants I did lots of research and decided on these because they had good reviews and are affordable on my budget.

I am 5'9" ~170lbs and initially ordered a Large (12-14). They were cut too narrow in the hips even though my measurements matched exactly with their size large measurement description. Exchanged for XL (16). Same issue. Tried to take a step up (emulating hiking action) and the upper thigh pulled so tight it restricted my range of movement.

I think the problem is that there isn't any stretch at all in these pants so they don't move with you. For pants I expect to wear for hiking and backpacking, that doesn't work. Will return these too.

Some good features in these pants, but they are not really comfortable -- and without a bit of elastine or spandex, they don't move easily with me when I need them to.
