I love this shirt -- it's very warm. It's quite stylish - I like to wear it by itself too. The material reminds me a little of polyester. It does run a little short in the sleeves though -- I normally wear a small and it fits me nicely around but I would have liked the sleeves to be an inch or two longer. I am 5'7" though so maybe the sleeves are good for a shorter person.
These do run small, I generally wear a M but a L fit comfortably.

You'll find that the body of the shirt fits fine in a medium. It won't be tight, but will sit nicely. But you'll find the sleeves too short if you want them to be touching your wrists, especially when your arms are extended. I'm 5'4" and even with my hands by my sides the sleeves only just about reach my wrists.

I have two of these in the same, white color. I first ordered a small. I usually always wear a small in all brands and cuts of clothing. I'm 5'9" and my weight is usually 135 but due to hypothyroidism I recently gained 30 lbs in 3 weeks. While the small still fits, I only wear it as one of my first few layers as I don't find it a comfortable fit if I wear other layers under it. I tend to wear this not next to the skin, but use it more as a mid-layer. I find that the nice hefty weight of it lends itself to that use. I find the Medium to be more versatile, giving me more options of how many layers I can comfortable fit under it. (To simplify the fit, I almost always still wear a small, despite the weight gain. (I suppose I can thank the Lycra for that) but I found this shirt DOES noticeably run on the small side and am happier with the Medium, one size larger than I usually wear.
(NOTE: I also have difficulty controlling my body temperature and sit outside for hours at a time at night reading in the middle of winter (like the nut that I am)) so I wear multiple layers, never just the simple method of base layer, mid-layer and inslated coat or jacket. (No, I can never do things the simple way :-))
