When the tip broke off my chef's chopping knife, I knew that SierraTradingPost.com might just have something to replace it. And--yay--this set was not only on a special sale, but also includes a terrific sharpener and paring knife. They are both just terrific knives--needle-sharp and slide through anything I've set them to. Sharpener works great too for other knives.

Beautifully weighted. Extremely sharp. Will maintain wonderful edge on these knives if looked after and regularly sharpened. Will last for years. All Wusthof knives are equal to the best but this new "Ikon" handle is even more comfortable. Like another poster, I bought this set for the 6" knife. I considered the paring knife and the sharpener to be "extra bonus". But actually the paring knife is pretty useful too and this sharpener is expensive to obtain singly.
This 6" knife length seems to fit my woman's hand more easily for many tasks, than the standard chefs knife length of 8".

These knives are simply beautiful. I grew up in a bakery, have worked in professional bakeries and kitchens much of my life. I never thought I'd get to own such lovely knives. They are razor shape, well made and fit my hands nicely. I totally recommend them.

I work in a commercial kitchen and was tired using the knives they have at work. They were all dull and not kept in good shape. I invested in this set mainly for the 6" kife and figured the paring knife and the sharpner are added bonus.
I use the 6" everyday at work and at home at times. I use it to slice tomatoes, onions and cucumbers mainly at work. This knife goes through them like hot knife going through a stick of butter. It's also a good size for small cutting boards and tighter work area.
I used it at home to cut some yams and thought it was little small for that job. I am thinking of getting a 8" knife next to add to my tools for things like potatoes and squash. This knife also feels a bit heavy on the handle.
I wash it by hand and dry it right away and roll it up in a small towel when I'm not using it to protect the edge. It has retained it's sharp ege after using it for about 3 weeks.
I used the paring knife the other day and it is as sharp as the 6" knife. 3.5" paring knife is a perfect size for small jobs while having the item being cut in your hand instead of on the cutting board.
Sharpner is just like any other sharpner of similar style and works fine.
The 6" knife a lone sells for $130 in most online stores (maybe a bit cheaper if there's a sale). I got the whole set from STP for $111 with shipping.
