I have bought a lot of things at this website over the years but increasingly find much better prices elsewhere. This set is over $100 cheaper at [@]
Reviewed by Scoutdad from California on Thursday, May 21, 2015This is a really nice set of knives; top quality and a good selection of larger and smaller knives/tools. I already had a few Wusthof knives (Gourmet) and they will fit into the block set. I must say that this "Classic" series is even better than the standard Wisthof "Gourmet" series. You can feel the difference in your hand; these are well balanced and have a bit of weight to them. Confession time: I love that ringing sound that a fine knife blade makes when you pull it out of the block! THe set comes with a honing rod, but I also purchased the Wusthof sharpener for convenience. I am very pleased with this set.
Reviewed by Richfow from Missouri on Tuesday, December 24, 2013The knife set was sharp and all blades are cutting fine. Used steel on an older knife and it seemed to sharpen well. I bought two other knives a serrated paring knife and a peeling knife that was not included in this set. The block is angled and this helps with drawing the knives our as our old block was straight verticle and you had to tip it slightly to extract the longer knives and steel. So far, satisfied with this set. Did not need steak knives, so did not waste money on a larger set.
Reviewed by Dakotagirl from SD on Friday, August 9, 2013My hubby is a chef who uses Wustof knives regularly. He always complains about my cutlery at home. I got tired of it so I ordered this set. Wow! That first slice with a light weight, sharp knife - now I don't have to be jealous of his knives and he doesn't complain about cooking at home. Win-win. Now to get him to sharpen my old set.....

Verified Buyer Reviewed by Jeff the Chef from Southbridge, MA on Tuesday, January 1, 2013The real deal and should last a very long time. I could not be happier with this purchase. I will be adding more of these knives to my collection. Thanks again Sierra Trading Post.
Question “This was my previous question that I did not get a good answer for:||"How come this product the "Wusthof Classic Knife Block Set - 8-Piece" starting price is $637 whereas the "Wusthof Gourmet Knife Block Set - 12-Piece" which appears to contain almost the same knives with the addition of 4 steak knives starts out at $421. What am I missing here? I see that the 12 piece has an additional shorter pairing knife instead of the 6" sandwich knife, but somehow it is still $200 cheaper. I just want to verify or find out if the 7 knives that they have in common are the exact same knives.|Thanks,|Blake" ||Maybe I was a little confusing,||I guess what I'm really asking is how come I can get the 8-piece knife set for $400, but it looks like I can get the 12-Piece set for $230 which looks like it has everything and more for $170 less. Are the knives in common the exact same or not??? Please answer these last two questions.|Thank you,|Blake”
Answer 2752J (8 piece) is from the classic line and 3013F (12 piece) is from the Gourmet line. .The Classic collection is forged steel which is much more labor intensive construction and over all a better quality knife blade then the good quality laser cut version from the Gourmet Collection.
