I remember asking several hikers about these years ago. I specifically wanted to know how they performed on solid ice because it seemed to me that they might cause you to slip and fall if the wire coils did not dig into the ice. No one had a good answer for me. Well, I now have the answer: they w... Read More

Haven't been able to try these out yet but seem like they will work well

I bought these to have on hand when I know I am going to be out walking on potential ice. When I first got them I thought they might be too small, but after figuring out the right way to put them on I tried them on all potential shoes and boots I might use them with and they fit perfect. I haven't had a chance to use them here yet, but i have used something similar in the past on a business trip to Anchorage in the middle of the winter.

This is an excellent item to help keep traction in ice and snow. I couldn't have survived without it this winter.

These are just what I needed to walk in packed snow and ice around the house. They provide great traction up and down our hilly drive. As others have commented, I also believe they may break if put on and off your boots too roughly. I've been careful and they're fine

Call me skeptical, but I didn't expect these to work. Yes, they look dorky, but on a dark night that I didn't want to risk my car on the icy roads, I walked over a mile at a fast clip over icy sidewalks with these on to meet a friend for a movie.

I felt secure in these and they slipped on and off my walking boots when I wanted them to and stayed on when I needed them.

  • “size thoughts? i wear a woman 9”
Asked by tammy from minneapolis on 2/3/2017 6:47:00 PM
    • I'd go with the medium if I were you. I'm a size 6 which is technically just *under* the range for the Small, which is (6.5-8.5), but they work just fine for me: no chance of them coming off; they don't feel loose or insecure at all. I didn't have a choice because that was the smallest size. Anyway, going with the range they recommend makes sense, and I'd suggest the M based on this.

    • The small works for my wife and she's a size 9.

    • According to the size charts a small should be fine. I wear an 8-1/2 and small works fine on my clunky chunky big soles boots as well as sneakers with a slimmer silhouette.

    • So do I. A medium works for me, but if you are going to put them on very large clunky snow boots you MIGHT need the large.

  • “If I wear a size 10 boot, women, should I get a small or medium? ”
Asked by Denise from Eagan on 2/1/2017 8:14:42 AM
    • Good question. The size chart says up to women's 10 should get a small, 10.5 gets a medium. I do know my husband (size 10 M) can't wear my smalls.

I think you should consider what footwear you'll be pairing with the Yaktrax. If it has a big footprint and thick sole, try medium. If you are using it with shoes with a slim sillouette (like dress boots or sneakers) then small should be fine. Or just buy both and return (or give away) one.

    • In actuality, you could probably use either of these and they would both work as they do have stretch and grip due to the rubber. You should also take into account what type of foot wear it is going to be worn with. If you are going to be wearing winter boots, then I would say go with the medium as boots in general are a larger item. If you are going to be wearing them more with tennis shoes then they wouldn't have to stretch as far.

    • Yaktrax.com has a sizing guide -- you'll have to look under the individual products, since their sizing varies. I wear a size 11 women's boot and bought the medium.

    • I can say that I am a "perfect 6" and Small is just fine for me, fit is very secure, even though its listed as fitting size 6.5 minimum. So medium will probably be fine for you.

    • My wife is a 9 and uses the small. They expand quite well and that size may cover a 10? I would think the medium would work fine too but may not be tight enough to stay on under duress.

About Yaktrax

Yaktrax represent a truly significant innovation for safer walking in urban winter conditions. Inexpensive but highly effective, Yaktrax slip-on ice traction allows incredible grip when walking on packed snow and ice. The simple but durable design of Yaktrax incorporates a crisscross pattern of reinforced steel coils on the sole that digs into any slick surface. Yaktrax traction can be easily slipped over most shoes or boots, and will prevent slips and falls on icy parking lots and sidewalks. Yaktrax can then be easily removed when indoors to maintain a professional appearance - making them ideal when you don’t want to wear pac boots to work. Yaktrax pull-on traction makes a great winter gift and is ideal for elderly men and women at a higher risk of falling, or anyone who wants to boost their confidence when walking on ice.
