Buy two pairs

We winter in an area with steep trails that tend to be icy up high due to the fact that the trails are on north facing slopes. You don't know until you get to the top if you are going to have a problem with ice. These slip easily into you pocket or pack and are extremely easy to put on and take off. Perfect for the conditions we usually face. If we run into ice, I can have them on in about a minute. Then, when I get past the ice, it only takes 30 seconds to take them off and stuff them back in my pocket. The one downside is that they aren't especially durable. A sharp rock will easily put a small tear in the rubber and pretty soon that section will break. Others have reported that the steel wire can slice the rubber. So do yourself a favor and buy at least two pairs. That way you will have replacements on hand should one break or get lost. Some have reported that these can come off easily. That has not been our experience. I've owned other brands that do fall off easily. These fit securely on every type of footwear we have tried, including my wife's Keen boots that usually don't work very well with traction devices.
