Yaktrax

I walk daily for exercise. This is usually limited in the winter time by snow and ice covered surfaces. I purchased the yaktrax to be able to continue to enjoy this healthy exercise all year long. I haven't had a chance to use them, as they were purchased in the summer. They were recommended by a friend who is an avid ice fisherman. She won't leave her ice shanty without them.

easy to use - does the trick

Absolutely Necessary for a Michigan winter. I walked hundreds of miles with mine in the icy winter of 07-08, until I blew out the first pair. When I broke them, and couldn't find any locally (sold out) - I was actually in danger before my shipment came from STP. Wiser now, I ordered two pairs for me, and four to give away. The whole family will be set up next Christmas.

I use these during the times of the year when snow has melted and refrozen and they work great. They feel very secure. Other reviewers have complained about them wearing out prematurely. Next year will be my 3rd winter and there's no significant wear on mine yet. I take mine off as soon as I get off the snow and ice, to avoid mud or pavement where I think they'd be most susceptible to damage. I have a hard time picturing them as being very durable, as the review categories seem to imply, for climbing or bouldering - that seems a bit misleading. If you keep the use to ice and snow, I think they would be reasonably durable. The cost [$] is well worth the greatly reduced risk of falling on ice. I just bought a couple more pairs so I can take friends on walks and to have for when mine do wear out... someday.

easy to put on shoes; harder to put on shoes one is already wearing. Very good ice traction until they wear down / the rubber breaks. So far, they last us about one season, so definitely better value at Sierra price than full-price :)

Purchased on a friend's recommendation. She loves them. I probably will when the ice man comes again.

This winter I ordered a pair each for my husband and myself at the suggestion of a friend who said his doctor recommended them for preventing slipping on snow and ice.I wore mine only once, and they worked very well. My husband wore his a lot, mostly walking our dog, and they worked great. After about 6 weeks of use, however, one broke, and the other was showing serious wear. [...]. My husband hasn't needed to use the new pair yet, but he's not overly hopeful that they will be any more durable than the 1st pair.

My husband shattered his ankle in the fall while biking. I bought these for him as our weather was very icy this winter and he was still a bit unsteady on his feet and I didn't want him to slip and break something else! He's doing fine! I've bought them for all my friends too!
