I have a newish Ford Escape. Instead of using this seat cover in the back seat, I installed it in the trunk area to protect the back of the seats. I put it over the headrests, tucked the sides around the seats, and slipped a Weather tech mat over the bottom half. You only see the top half. A lot eas... Read More

This keeps the dog hair off the seats and keeps dog from sliding forward when we stop.

This works like a hammock and is well made but my dog can't seem to grip it. Imagine standing with 4 legs on a hammock. I even pushed my front seat back to make it less taut but it didn't seem to help. I'm going to try it without hooking it to the front seat next time so it's not like a hammock. It's a good seat protector but not sure if my dog will still slide around. At the sides, it folded back exposing the seat near the window. I'm thinking old blankets works best for dogs. 3 rating because it's a good seat protector, I just am not sure it will work for dogs.

I actually just used this today to take my big old Akita to the vet. It fit perfectly in the back of my Civic. When I received it a few weeks ago, I did notice an odor like other reviewers mentioned. No problem as I hung it up on my back porch for the odor to disappate which it finally did. I've been searching something to protect my back seat and this definitely fits the bill.

This backseat car cover has done the job for a year and half now. The edges around the zipper tore off a long time ago, but I don't mind as my dog likes to rest her chin on my center console and the tear allows her to do that. It keeps her Golden Retriever hair off my seats, and since we go hiking, this cover also keeps her muddy paws off my car upholstery. It's easy to fasten onto the headrests, and the buckles are adjustable. Aside from the torn zipper, the rest of the seams are holding up.

  • “Is it machine washable”
Asked by Oscarledgewood from Ct on 4/3/2015 9:29:22 AM
    • I haven't tried but plan on just hosing it off in the yard. The material is pretty stiff.
Answered on 4/3/2015 11:05:09 AM by MAA from DC
    • I would say yes. It's made mostly of terylene.
Answered on 4/3/2015 11:17:40 AM by Sonora Golfer from Sonora, CA
    • Probably. Think heavy-duty shower curtain, with slick vinyl on one side and a canvas like surface on the other. Also, there are straps that would have to be cared for so they don't get caught.

I would hose it down first before putting it in the washing machine.

    • Don't know for sure but don't see any reason why not. surface is very slick so most things should just wipe off quite easily.

    • Its tarp like. like a grill cover. im sure you could wash it but a wipe with a cloth is fine.

    • That I do not know.
Answered on 4/3/2015 5:29:32 PM by peginnh from Colorado
    • Yes, the material is vinyl, so it is machine washable, just like a shower curtain liner.

    • I machine washed the cover and it was fine. Hung it to dry though, afraid it might melt in the dryer. It dried in no time.

  • “Is it waterproof?”
Asked by MtCowgirl from Montana on 2/13/2015 2:52:40 PM
    • I would say it is water resistant--as in muddy paws will be kept off upholstery; but wet, dripping dogs would likely penetrate the (polyester?) canvas. I run mine as an added-coverage under-liner beneath my BMW pet seat cover, so I have double protection....needed for a pair of Newfies who love the water and can never shake enough before boarding.
Answered on 2/13/2015 4:11:42 PM by OCULUS from Renselaer, NY
    • It is waterproof and can be wiped with a damp/wet rag or soapy sponge to clean. Sort of like the material of a camping chair
Answered on 2/13/2015 4:30:42 PM by peginnh from CO
    • It's made from a type of canvas, so to some degree I would say yes. However, there are slits for the two back seatbelts, therefore, water would seep thru those two holes, yet they do velcro shut. Can you tell I'm not quite sure how to answer your question exactly. I can pour water on it today!

  • “Will this work in a car with no headrests in the back seat?”
Asked by Laura from Arizona on 12/10/2014 2:19:46 PM
    • No....You need the headrests to hold up the seat cover on the back of the seat otherwise it will end up on the floor.

    • Unfortunately, I don't think so. I can't think of how you could affix the cover otherwise. Sorry.

    • It has straps that wrap and snap around the headrests. So I would assume that it wouldnt work because there is nothing for it to clip to.

  • “I have a Jeep Wrangler. Do you think this would fit?”
Asked by Anonymous from Maine on 4/29/2014 10:25:29 AM
    • Howdy. I have the jeep wrangler unlimited. And it fits fine- with some material to spare I- which is just fine. It also goes a good bit into the back cargo area with the seats down - protecting the carpeted area on the seat backs and more. Go for it. It's a nice cover and good price. Hope that helps.

    • Yes, I think it will fit a variety of vehicles well. My car is a Honda Fit and I use it with the back seat up or down. ( The picture demonstrating the cover in use shows this product well.) However, if your Jeep does not have a bench seat in the back, a pet is going to fall between the seats. In this case, I should think the cover could be folded in half and used on one seat. If your purpose is just to keep the interior clean an have no pet to consider then I think this would adapt in many ways.

Asked by Bruce from Dillon, Mt. on 1/20/2013 12:00:00 AM
    • It would only hang over each side 2.5", I do not thick that it would too much.
