Reviewed by Lake boy from Wet Washington on Sunday, February 23, 2014These by far are the best quality hiking boot I've ever tried, the build quality ,fit and performance are outstanding..
I normally wouldn't consider a boot this expensive but with the deep discount from STP , they were less than I've paid for lesser brands In sporting good stores.

This is an ideal boots for these conditions. Trekking through the moraines, rocky routes of medium difficulty, wet grass.
Reviewed by mountain mama from Montana on Sunday, November 17, 2013My husband loves this boot for its nice balance of support and flexibility. He sized up on his first pair for winter hunting conditions, and this will be his summer boot.
Reviewed by Andrew David from Utah on Thursday, October 24, 2013I opted to return these, but wanted to write that the size I was shipped was correct as listed online (regarding another customer's troubles mentioned in his review). This backpacking boot has some very nice features- fit is good immediately while the sidewalls are still thick and solid, with a sole allowing for a normal and comfortable stride, they should hold up well to use with the full rubber rand and thick suede, and very easy on-off with strong loops on top and back, gusset tongue, and the mesh/elastic around the upper. Insole is good quality and not disposable like most with other brands.
However, the laces are too short for my tastes, the lacing system has a metal catch on the tongue which is annoying and can be ignored but will always be there, with that elastic/mesh and the gusset tongue you are really only waterproof to 5'' rather than 6'' which will make a difference for stream crossings if you do enough of them, the rand is very thin except up front so as to marginalize its value, and the sole is rather thin if you are intending for a lot of off-trail scrambling and climbing. I would not try a crampon on these, personally.
Reviewed by Seattleclick from Washington on Tuesday, October 15, 2013The boot appears to be nice with the exception of the rand being oxidized for two incorrect sized boots I received to date. STP shipped me the wrong size twice and it has been really frustrating even though their customer service has been accommodating and professional. I sent an email to a customer service rep about my sizing concerns and explicitly added a note about the required size for my exchange order but STP still got it wrong. AKU ships these in UK sizes and the STP website lists them in USA Men's sizes. However, STP keep shipping USA L sizes which based on international size charts (8 1/2 USA M = 10 USA L), I keep receiving ladies size 10. Anyway, I will update this review later but based on the oxidized rand and the lacing system, I dinged it a few stars (perhaps influenced by my negative purchase experience too). BTW, if you order these boots, you better add an order/shipping note to request the explicit size to play it safe and then keep your fingers crossed. One last comment... These boots are roughly D width so people with wider feet may want to look for another hiking boot.
