I've been wearing a pair of Asolo fsn 95's and have found out the hard way that the "medium width" really means no room in the toe box. So when I saw these on STP for such a great price I thought I'd give them a try. The difference is night and day as far as comfort. The AKU's were designed to actually fit five toes in the toe box and there's enough room allowed around the heel that you don't have to worry about heel blisters. All the stitching looks top notch and when you realize these were hand made by someone you can't help but admire the craftsmanship that went into making them. I think the soles are stiff enough and they're overall durable enough for anything from a long day hike up to a three or four day trip, but if you're planning on taking a two week trek with a really heavy load I'd say look for something a little more beefy and rigid. Overall I think these are great boots and judging from the few times I've worn them around town to test them out they seem like they'll be really comfortable on the trail.
