These boots are terrific, they look and feel quite good. BUT, they have absolutely no arch. I had to send them back for that reason; my days of orthotics in every shoe are over. On the day I received these boots, I also received a pair of Keen hiking boots. The Keens were softer to the touch, w... Read More

Very well made, by hand and great materials. My issue is the balance point was strange for me due to the way the sole is made. If you are on a hard surface and stand straight you balance on the flat heel and the rest of your foot is up in the air about 2 inches. When you step forward your foot goes kerplunk onto the ball of your foot and then you do the same with your next step...? My husband has the same boot and loves it. His only complaint is that they leak when in wet conditions and says they are best in dry conditions.

These are definitely well-built, high quality boots, and they look great. The fit is perfect. I wear a 7.5 for most shoes and an 8 in a running shoe, so I ordered these in a 7.5 and they are perfect. I have normal width feet that are almost wide (I love Birkenstocks and prefer a roomy toe box), and these are a great fit. My right foot is slightly wider than the left, and the side of the boot rubs just a little bit on the ball of my right foot, but not too bad, and I think the boots will stretch out a bit since they are leather and I'm using leather conditioner. My only complaint is that there really is no arch support, as others have mentioned. I've never had to use inserts in my life and I'm thinking about getting arch supports. The footbed is also firm with almost no give. Some hiking boots I tried on in the stores are like pillows, but the Alico's are definitely stiff. I've worn them on hikes varying from 2 to 5 miles, rocky and hilly conditions, and they are OK. My arches hurt after the first hike, which is unusual for me, but either I'm getting used to them with subsequent hikes or they are starting to break in.

These boots are very high quality plus they look super cute! I’d order a size up if you like really thick socks. They repel water really well and keep my feet warm

I have now used them for a week now in snow and in -11 celsius and they are still warm and dry. Good quality on the leather. I first ordered a size 7,5 but they were way too small, I'm a europeen size 38, so I ordered a size 8,5 and they fit perfectly with room for some thicker socks if I want that. The shoes is a bit stiff and the heel has a gap wich makes it a bit wierd to walk on flat sufaces, but thats not what these are for, and I guess they will soften a bit with time.

I’m from Australia and we don’t having anything of such quality in our stores! These are the only boots I found made from one piece of leather that can be resoled. For sizing I used the cm measurement to try and be as accurate as possible, not wanting to suffer the return shipping fee. I ordered a 9.5/25.4cm and they fit perfectly with hiking socks. I have only worn them to mow the lawn so far but had no issue with hot spots. The soles are stiff which is to be expected, and aren’t as heavy as they sound! Highly recommend these boots to anyone wanting quality old school hikers.

    • They are made in Italy from what seems to feel like chinese leather. Quality ok, but don't expect it to be the same as Italian leather 10 years ago.

Occasionally we are able to reorder a product, but closeout items are typically unable to be reordered. We suggest signing up for the My Updates as the best way to monitor incoming products. • “If I wear a true 6.5 in most shoes and hike with a thinner sock should I be fine with the 6.5 or should I size up to a 7 still? ”
Asked by Jamie from New York on 11/14/2017 2:57:50 PM
    • According to our fit team this item is running true to size. That would really be a personal preference, if you like the boots to be a little tighter or a little looser.
