Alico make superb products. This is the third pair of New Guide boots that I have purchased from Sierra.I have a pair in size8 which I wear continuously when I work on my farm ,hunt, fish, and walk my Lab.I bought this second size 8 as a back up and will begin breaking them immediately.I have a pair a half size larger which I wear in cold/snow to accomodate heavy socks. These are old-time full-bore all- leather climbing boots akin to those made in the 1960s or 1970s.One seldom finds boots in this design or quality today.I own the other Alico boot models available from Sierra and like all of them. However these are my favorite.Arch/ankle support are excellent.Fit/finish are second to none. They are heavy and require a long break in period[I wear mine at work to shorten break -in time].I would not wear these for high altitude climbing but for heavy duty back-packing they will work well if you can tolerate their weight.I wish that Alico sold their safety-toed boots in the states[I have a friend in Bavaria getting me a pair to use for wood cutting].[...]
