Very high quality

These boots are exactly what they are billed as - not lightweight hikers but instead relatively stiff, sturdy mountaineering boots. They provide excellent support around the ankle, making them a great choice for carrying a fairly heavy load over rigorous terrain. The leather lining the inside of the boot is very soft and comfortable while the outside leather is very thick and durable. They are triple stitched with a Norwegian - welt to a Vibram sole. These boots are great for light mountaineering in places like Mt. Washington, Long's Peak, etc... where you may use a strap-on rigid crampon and a single ice-axe, for example. They do not accept step-in crampons and are not really suited to waterfall ice climbing. If you are backpacking many miles over flat terrain, there are better options in light-weight boots than these. However, if you are intending on doing mountain trekking while carrying a heavy load, or light mountaineering these boots are ideal. Backpacking rugged terrain in the Adirondacks, hiking Mt Katahdin, etc...The craftsmanship is first - rate. You can tell right away that these are very different from boots mass - produced in Asia. I would advise you to wear these boots while working around the house, etc... for several months before using them for their intended purpose as they do require a break-in period.
