Best Boot I've had In Years

I had boots in the army during the early to mid 1990s, which weren't the best boots the army ever issued, but after 5 years of service and a few resolings they felt great. These Alicos feel like they have the potential to match that experience (but I haven't put them through their paces yet). Great fit right out of the box. Other people say they are heavy, but I think they're too used to wearing made in China injection-molded glue and fabric sneakers masquerading as boots (and then they're surprised when the glued on sneaker soles peel off on the trail!). These Alico Summits feel SOLID, not heavy. As for fit and sizing, I got thse in an 8.5. I wear an 8 regular dress shoe, and usualy an 8.5 in other leather boots, or a 9 if they have all kinds of insulation and g-Tex lining (for comparison purposes only, I'm thinking of Columbias, Merrells, and casual Rockports). I pulled out the Alico factory insoles and slipped in the Green Men's D width 7.5-9 Superfeet and I didn't even have to cut them ... they just snapped right into place! These are finally a REAL BOOT that gives me that confident feel I had while wearing my old army boots, AND THEY CAN BE RESOLED to give years of service. I got some pure beeswax from a local Apiary and will put a thin initial coat on, and then see how they perform this winter. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
