Closeouts. Nestled within the Alps, the Dolomites are known for jagged peaks and deep crevasses that have challenged the climber's craft for centuries. Reviewed by David from Tennessee on Friday, March 9, 2018I have a wide toe spread so i bought my normal size 11 in the WIDE. I'm not sure that was necessary but I do love the extra room. My Vasque Sundowners came apart after 15 years, and although I glued them back together I do not trust them anymore. These Alicos are en entirely different level of quality from the Vasques they're replacing. The leather, though thick, is SMOOTH whereas my Vasques were always stiff. The norwegian welt sole is much more stable than the somewhat rocketed Vasque glue-on. But most of all the boots are much taller--taller on my leg, yes, but I mean taller in the shoe. Plenty of toe room, no pinching at all. I wear a light merino hiking sock and then on top of that I pull on a mid-thick wool hiker, and THEN I stuff my feet in the luxurious leather-lined Alicos and tighten the laces to the max. But I still have plenty of room. Excellent heel pocketing. I've had them for 4mos and they're finally starting to flex with my foot. I will never buy another boot that does not feature stitched resolvable construction and soft leather lining. Thanks, Alico!

Breaking my first pair in of the Alico Summit Hiking Boots for the next couple weeks and months.
The selling points for me, which the boots do have, are/were:
a) Norwegian style/Italian style welt, or re-sole-able Vibram bottoms.
b) full grain all leather uppers that ARE stiffish but well padded stable, I wanted hiking boots that can stand a lot of pounding and not deflate.
My last 225 bucks all leather hiking books didn't have the re-sole-able footbed, and I had to toss them when they blew out the bottoms after 4-5 years constant (daily on a commune farm) use.
I re-ordered size 10 1/2 after my normal size 10 for this model, was too short in the toes. 10 1/2 fits perfect for my size 10 foot.
The shoe is a narrow "M", but I'm a narrow sided "M". If a person is a wider "Medium" you may wish to try the W model. But I'm guessing the existing "M" it will widen (my old hiking books widened after 3-4 years I noticed), I'll try remember and post what the width results are in 1-2 years.
Impressive leather, impressive stable fit, for me.
Well worth 200 bucks (190 something actually) to go all full grain leather hiking boots, this brand, this Alico model--Summit. This will be my last pair of hiking boots, and I'm happy with them so far. 26 Feb 2018
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Chuck Beatty from Pittsburgh on Monday, February 19, 2018Shoe quality excellent. Am awaiting my return replacement due to size being small. The size 10 men’s for my foot was too small. Am awaiting replacement.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by CAIRN from Maryland, USA on Wednesday, February 7, 2018Bought the Alico Summits after my molded-sole Vasque boots fell apart at the sole. Also, the Vaques with Goretex liner were never really waterproof. Wanted to go back to Alico's Norwegian Welt construction for soles. Size 10 fit to size. But I am getting a little toe bump on downhill slopes when I walk. Will try a superfeet insole and see if that holds the foot in place a bit better. REI has superfeet insoles you can try before buying. Also bought Obenauf's Heavy Duty LP (Amazon) to water proof the boots. Never used it before, but many reviews recommended. Weight of boots not an issue. Very little break in period needed, but just to be safe, will continue to wear them for local hikes before putting any serious miles on them. Also, got a pair of Alico Tahoes for my wife. She loves them and they fit her perfectly in size 6. Tahoes are a bit lighter than the Summits.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Blue Ridge Boy from North Carolina on Sunday, January 28, 2018These boots are exactly what I was looking for. They're hand made in Italy, and it shows! I also am not a fan of GoreTex in my shoes as they tend to really sweat my feet, in spite of their purported properties. These are stiff and will take some break in time but, I'm sure they'll last a long time.

“Please give me the dimensions of this shoe: total length, toe box width, ball of foot width, and heel-to-top of boot height. Thanks!”
I bought a 10D. Too small for my 10 foot, I have a narrow-ish foot, the width was great. The length of the 10 was a tab too short.
I bought the 10 1/2D and that fit my narrowish 10 foot perfectly.
If you are a wider than normal foot, you might wish to go for their W width. And like I said, their 10 was too short for my 10 foot, but their 10.5 works perfectly for me.
I don't know how to measure for your question. Would that be inside dimensions or outside? Is that done with special shoe store measuring equipment?

I wear an 11.5 in most sneakers, an 11 in dress shoes, 12 in nike sneakers. I bought an 11 in these and they fit pretty well out of the box. I have a fairly narrow foot, so though the length is good but there is a little too much volume in these, but that is easily addressed with socks and insoles. My guess is an 8 will be too big for you. These are great boots - I hope you are able to get some that fit.
