not how the summit used to be!!!!!

I do field research for the Forest Service and have up till now exclusively used these boots for years in my field work. Up until a few years ago, these boots were made of thick, hard leather which were ideal for footing on slopes.
These boots have changed dramatically in that they are now made of soft, flimsy leather which allows them to flex and get "stepped over" while on slopes which in effect ruins the boots very quickly. They now have really no break in period as they are a much softer leather.
I have subsequently sent my recent (4 pairs) that I had ordered back and am now wearing the "new guide," which are a much stiffer, durable boot. The stiffness of the new guides compares of the old summit boot, which obviously they don't make the same anymore. What a disappointment!!! I'm sticking with the new guides.
