I hike steep, rocky, wet terrain in N.W. Montana. I need stiff durable boots providing firm ankle support and soles that will protect from walking on sharp rock. This boot should provide that protection and support. I like the one-piece leather, good stitching, and water resistance provided. The insole really sucks...bad. The foot bed has nearly no arch, and from the arch forward, the boot seems too wide, which tends to make your feet creep forward on downhill slopes. I have already spent nearly as much on insoles as the boots...still trying to find one that works. If I can solve that problem, I think the boots are a great value.
