Great boots, crummy insoles

A beautiful pair of boots, with a single flaw. I've had them a month; they're just beginning to get broken in. I have a wide foot and they rubbed just a bit at first, but are fine with about 50 miles on them. Removable insole is like thin cardboard and made the bottom of the boot feel like it's made of rock--I cannot imagine why such a solid boot has such a poor insole. I replaced it with a commercial insole, and the boot is much improved. I expect I'll hike in these boots for many years to come.
