Old World Craftsmanship; Old School Qual

These boots were everything that I expected and more. One piece water resistant leather body. Double layer heavy leather soles with double hand stitching, with stitching waterproofed. World standard Vibram mountaineer outer sole. Inside is lined with glove leather. Heavy duty hardware. These will benefit from the purchase of a high quality inner sole, or orthotic footbed to replace the factory supplied version, but that is the case with most boots of this type. They are a bit stiff out of the box, but break in is not that difficult. These are heavy boots, and will probably not be the best choice for casual wear. I did not rate that as a con because that is what is needed for adequate ankle support in mountain environments, which is the intended purpose. I generally wear size 11.5, and ordered sizes 11.5 and 12, as recommended, but kept the 12 for extra room in the toe box.
