Solid boot, comfortable from the start

This would be considered suicidal. Out of the box, on the feet, casual hike around yosemite, then 4 days later summit Mt.Whitney. I read the reviews and crossed my fingers that size 11-2E would fit. I wanted a touch extra space and avoid the black toe I used to get from other close fitting hiking boots. Using a slightly thicker sock, 50% thicker than a sweat sock, I was able to get the fit I wanted. Up and down 14K ft was no problem, comfortable from start to finish, no blisters or even close. The traction is what caught me be surprise. Hauling a 42 pound pack and bouldering, the tread kept me glued to the rock when needed.
For comparison I wear: Saucony running 11, Salomon hiking 11.5, Clarks casual 10.5, Nordica alpine ski 10.5.
