Excellent for the price

This is not a heavy duty hiking boot, although the norwegian welt construction implies. The leather is on the thinner side for this style of boot(far thicker than most brand name boots though)and the sole is reasonably flexible. That being said these are superb day hikers and every day boots. They are quite handsome, reasonably lightweight and extremely comfortable. Break in time is minimal, though necessary. No Gore-Tex lining is a major plus- gore-tex is all but pointless in most footwear, and even more so in a quality leather boot. Condition the leather every few months and they will be as water resistant as a membrane boot, and far more breathable.
There are better boots on the other side of the pond in this style, but the price CANNOT be beat anywhere. These are an absolute steal!!! And with proper care they will last considerably longer than any fabric/leather/membrane boot. Buy some!!!
