great boots

These boots are of incredible quality. I was looking to replace a pair of Merrell hiking boots that had the same classic hiking boot look but were much lighter and thinner leather with a rubber welded sole.
I took a while deciding between the Tahoes and the two other Alico models available on STP. I was concerned that this being the most "lightweight" of the three it wouldn't be as supportive and long lasting as the heavier models.
I am really glad I chose the Tahoe.
It is indeed quite heavy compared to my old boots but the leather is very heavy duty, the soles are heavy duty as well as replaceable, and it offers much more support than I was used to. I bought them in preparation for a two week backpacking trip but I've been wearing them around town to break them in and they have turned out to be the most comfortable shoes I own. They are still kind of stiff but I haven't gotten a single blister.
One thing that I don't care a fig about but may matter to some, the dye job on the leather is kind of streaky. But if that's the only trade off for such a killer boot, you'd be crazy not to get yourself a pair.
Oh, also, I am a female with very wide feet between a women's 9 and 10. I ordered the men's 7.5 and they fit great with enough room for very thick hiking socks.
