I was tired of "disposable" bonded-sole boots and wanted boots with a stitched sole. Hardly anybody makes those anymore, but I was happy to find these. These have become my go-to boots for wilderness search-and-rescue. They broke in relatively quickly, though I used the old Army trick of soaking them in lukewarm water then wearing them for an hour or so. Now they fit very comfortably. To waterproof them, I used a liquid seam-sealer along the stitches then followed up with a beeswax-based product. That won't make them 100% waterproof, but well enough to survive a rainstorm or the occasional puddle. Treat them right and they will last you a long time.
