I use my Tahoe's for hiking and everyday wear, and have had them a year. I have degenerative arthritis which has caused one foot (so far) to spread from 9D to 9 2E or beyond, with sometimes considerable sensitivity. Before getting custom-made hiking boots to replace a much-treasured pair of 9E Vasque Flytes (Italian-made, resolable pre-Sundowners), I thought I'd try these, working with the local cobbler to stretch any pressure points. The 9 2E size were very satisfactory on the unaffected foot out of the box, and break-in was straightforward. The problem foot has required a lot of iterative stretching of that boot's upper, and can still have some pressure points after several miles of hiking, but that's not the fault of the boots. Materials quality seems to be very good. Craftsmanship isn't as good as my 27-year-old Asolo Yukons, but it's close. I expect these will last more than long enough to justify the effort of fitting. The tops of the tongues were iritation points out of the box, as another review noted, but that went away pretty quickly after Nikwax treatment. The sole balance of stiffness and flexibility seems ideal. The OEM insoles would probably have been okay for most people, but I replaced them with sorbathane flats and custom orthotics. I wear these to work on occasion, and also to play soccer with my son, and they're comfortable for that, if a little confining after several hours (to be expected with boots). I didn't check the weight against the quoted 3 lb, but that's probably about right, and I don't notice the weight difference over lightweight hikers. The stock laces are a bit short, but that's easily fixed. If you need more support and protection than mixed fabric/leather lightweight hiking boots/shoes can provide, these are a very good solution, and a bargain.
