I live in New Zealand so had to wait a week or two for the boots to arrive. From reading the reviews of you Americans I was expecting a solid stiff boot that would take some extensive breaking in before the heading into the outdoors. Well, to my surprise I threw them onto my feet, did up the laces and walked, without discomfort, without the 'super-stiff-can-hardly-walk-normally type movements, in fact I moved house the following night and wore them from 8pm till 4am lugging heavy boxes and furniture up and down stairs. Eight hours straight and still waiting for all these dramas that everyone writes about to arrive.

To save you the waffle and cut to the point: The boots use a tried and true design that just works. For tramping/outdoors/hiking this is the boot -tough enough to handle anything short of alpine, yet enough flex to wear all day, drive in etc. If you use crampons are more alpine inclined, you will need a mountaineering boot.
