Very high Quality traditional light boot

If you prefer an old school (leather midsole, Norwegian welt) over a modern constructed (molded plastic midsole, turned under glued welt) you'll be impressed by these Alico boots. They scream QUALITY. They have a Vibram Roccia sole, gusseted U throat one piece upper, 5 single rivet D ring lacing eyelets on the bottom and 2 single rivet hooks on top. They are cut from one of the most beautiful hides I've ever seen. The stitching is also PERFECT (haven't bought a pair of Asolo, ever, that I can say that about).
These boots are relatively flexible, not nearly stiff enough for front pointing and very comfortable. They had a very minimal break in period. These are not winter mountaineering boots, but a near perfect 3 season hiking and long haul backpacking boot. They are very light weight for their construction style but may seem heavy if you're accustomed to fabric and plastic modern boots, but you'll never get fabric boots to waterproof as well as full leather hides (even with Goretex liner) or hold up as well. With proper care there's no reason these boots shouldn't last 10+ years of heavy use.
My only surprise was that they were high volume (ran long, wide and tall). Italian lasts generally run narrow, but not Alico's. I normally wear a 10.5-11 D. I ordered a 10.5 D and it was surprisingly roomy even with heavy wool single socks. I compensated for this by adding a thin gel insole under the provided insole. After that the fit was PERFECT. What GREAT boots!
