Sturdy and comfortable

I am in the process of breaking in these boots, but I could wear these comfortably without a break-in period. My only complaint is they are heavy, and it is more of a quibble than a complaint. They are no heavier than any other leather-made, serious hiking boot. I own a pair of Alico Summits and love them. However, since buying the Summits a foot problem requires me to use an orthotic. I bought a full size larger than my foot size. I removed the rather thin liner from these boots, replaced with my orthotic, put on as heavy sock, and the boot was still slightly too large. I put on a thin liner sock under the heavy sock and the boots fit perfectly. Rather than buying a larger pair of Summits, I wanted the wrap-around rand which I think will serve me well for an up-coming trip to the Rocky Mountains.
